The Anambra State chapter of the City Boy Movement (CBM) has inaugurated its state executive members, patrons and local government coordinators as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilization and expand the movement’s political engagement in the state.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, was conducted by the Southeast Zonal Coordinator, Obinna Iyiegbu, who urged members to embrace unity, inclusiveness and strategic engagement in advancing the objectives of the movement.
Addressing members at the event, Iyiegbu described the City Boy Movement as an inclusive platform open to both men and women, stressing that its activities are aimed at broad-based political participation and community mobilization.

He noted that although his involvement marked his first active participation in the electoral process, he accepted the responsibility to serve as a bridge between the people of the Southeast and the national leadership of the movement.
Iyiegbu acknowledged criticisms of the movement on social media but described such reactions as part of democratic politics. According to him, the Southeast had lost significant political influence in the past, and participation in platforms such as CBM offers an opportunity to reconnect with the centre.
He also pointed to ongoing infrastructure projects under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as evidence of renewed federal attention to the region. He highlighted the role of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, citing ongoing construction and rehabilitation works on major roads, including the Enugu–Onitsha and Enugu–Port Harcourt expressways.
Earlier, the National Communications Director of the movement, Ngozi Okafor, said the organization was established to support President Tinubu’s political agenda and promote grassroots political participation.
Okafor explained that the movement is youth-focused and community-driven, with structures designed to deepen engagement at the local government and ward levels across the country.
She assured members that the national leadership of the movement would continue to support activities in Anambra State and across the Southeast, describing the region as strategically important to Nigeria’s political landscape.

Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to the Zonal Coordinator and Head of Secretariat, Elijah Onyeagba, urged the newly inaugurated local government coordinators and state executive members to take the message of the movement to the grassroots.
He emphasized the need for cooperation among states in the region and called for strategic political engagement that would strengthen the movement’s presence.
In his address, the Anambra State Director of the movement, Nonso Ozoemena, described Iyiegbu as Anambra’s contribution to the national leadership of the organization.
Ozoemena urged members to run the movement without rancour and promote constructive political engagement while mobilizing support for President Tinubu.
He expressed confidence that dedication and loyalty among members would yield positive political outcomes for the organization.
Meanwhile, Miss Ifeanyi Ifunanya, who represented the State Woman Leader of CBM, Adaora Soludo, welcomed participants and encouraged more women to actively participate in the movement.
The event attracted supporters and coordinators from various local government areas across Anambra State.
