CLASS, EXCITEMENT, AS GTCO FASHION WEEKEND KICKS OFF IN LAGOS ON SATURDAY

The much-anticipated annual fashion weekend organized by Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) will kick off in Lagos on Saturday, with the de le creme in the fashion industry converging in Lagos to showcase their wears and designing prowess.

The two-day event is a premier consumer-focused event that places African fashion on the global stage and helps businesses in the local fashion industry thrive.

With the theme: “Fashion Moves Forward” will be declared opened by Segun Agbaje, Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc.

On parade will be avalanche of styles, classic wears for all shapes and sizes including a robust street wears, which will take centre stage on Saturday 9th to Sunday 10th November, 2024 at Plot 1, Water Corporation Drive, Oniru, Lagos.

In its 7th edition, having had the first in 2016, this year’s event will bring the best 11 renowned designers from across the continent, including Xu Zhi, Gert-Johan Coetzee, Tolu Coker, Oríré, etc.

Besides, it will bring unforgettable moments of excitement, as fashion enthusiasts will be treated to two masterclasses, Runway, Sales, and Exhibition, as well as the opportunity to see an avalanche of Street wear.

In a press briefing held at the GTCO Corporate Headquarters on Thursday in Lagos to announce the event, the Group Corporate Communications GTCO, Mr. Charles Eremi, said “We share our vision for this year’s event, celebrating African fashion’s global impact.

Charles reiterated, “We’re proud to empower entrepreneurs, promote creativity, and showcase exceptional talent. Your support is invaluable; let’s make this year’s event unforgettable.”

At GTCO, we believe fashion is a powerful engine for economic empowerment. Our commitment to promoting creativity, empowering entrepreneurs, and ensuring that the world continues to recognize the incredible potential of African fashion remains unwavering, Segun Agbaje, Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc noted.

“Last year, we introduced virtual model casting, expanding our reach beyond geographic boundaries. This innovative idea allowed us to include talents from every corner of the continent, proving that fashion truly has no limits.”

While glamorizing African designers said that “African designs are appearing in luxury boutiques in Paris, Milan, and New York, and our fabrics, patterns, and aesthetics are influencing fashion houses worldwide. The GTCO Fashion Weekend 2024 is a testament to the growing global recognition of African fashion”.

Just as in the previous editions, the Fashion Masterclasses provide fashion entrepreneurs the unique opportunity to learn from global industry leaders and experienced brands. The series covers topics addressing challenges and opportunities across the entire industry value chain including: Entrepreneurship, Growth and Profitability, Retailing, and several others.

The GTCO Fashion Weekend 2024 will showcase the consciousness in the power of African fashion, as the continent awaits the best of fashionistas attending the two-day event in the Centre of Excellence
