CNS AT NNS JUBILEE, INSPECTS PLATFORMS

In line with military tradition to see the physical fitness of men and the functionality of weaponry, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has visited and inspected Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) JUBILEE, where he was received by the Commander NNS JUBILEE, Commodore Abubakar Abubakar Umar.

He was accompanied by the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Chidozie Donald Okehie and other Principal Staff Officers from Naval Headquarters, Abuja.

During the inspection on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2025, the CNS was briefed on the operational activities, achievements and challenges of the Base.

Subsequently, the CNS embarked on a guided tour of key facilities within the Base, which included an inspection of boats at the Helms Jetty, before proceeding to the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) Jetty for an inspection of Nigerian Navy Ships SHIRORO and SHERE.

In his remarks, the CNS commended the Commander NNS JUBILEE for the transformation efforts and the notable achievements recorded in upgrading critical equipment to enhance operational efficiency and safeguard national assets through improved patrols and surveillance.

Admiral Abbas further ASSURED that the welfare of personnel would remain a top priority, while encouraging all officers and ratings to remain steadfast, disciplined and dedicated to operational excellence.

The CNS also acknowledged the challenges highlighted during the briefing and reaffirmed his commitment to providing continuous support to further strengthen the Base’s operational capabilities.
