The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, undertook an operational visit to the Headquarters of South South Operation DELTA SAFE in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of troop challenges and provide the necessary support.
On arrival, the CNS was received by the Commander Joint Task Force (CJTF), Rear Admiral OBF Oladipo, who briefed the CNS on the activities of the task force and its challenges.

Thereafter, the CNS commended the JTF for its good work over the years. He went on to state that his visit was in line with his vision, which is to “develop a mobile, agile and professional naval force dedicated to securing Nigeria’s maritime interests and advancing national security objectives in synergy with other security agencies.”
It would be understood that OPDS provides an effective platform of synergy for security agencies to combat oil theft and illegality in the maritime domain.
The visit was rounded off with a tree planting by the CNS as part of his contribution to environmental preservation.
