Following the untimely death of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, condolence registers have been opened at the headquarters, 81 Division, Kofo Abayomi and 9 Brigade, Ikeja Cantonment respectively.
In a separate statements in Lagos on Thursday by the spokespersons of the army formations, the register is to enable friends of the Army to pay their last respect to the former Army Chief, for his exemplary and meritorious service to the Nigerian Army in particular and the country in general.
According to the Acting Assistant Director, 9 Brigade Army Public Relations, Lt Kabirat Abosede Akiode said we would like to inform the public that a Condolence Register for the late Lt Gen TA Lagbaja is now open at the Headquarters, 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army.
“Friends and acquaintances are welcome to pay their respects. Adding that in “the course of his meritorious career, late Lt Gen TA Lagbaja honourably served as Commander 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, where he left a lasting legacy,” Lt Akiode reiterated.
On his part, Lt Col Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 81 Division NA, stated that “On behalf of the General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army (NA), informed members of the general public, friends and acquaintances that a condolence register has been opened in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja at the Headquarters 81 Division NA, 3 Kofo Abayomi, VI, Lagos.
Recalled that in the course of his unblemished career and selfless service to the Nation, late Lieutenant General Lagbaja on different occasions meritoriously served as a Staff Officer at HQ 81 Division and also as Commander 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army.
“He left unforgettable landmarks in HQ 81 Division during these periods,” Lt Col Ayeni explained.
It would be recalled that the late Lt Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja succumbed to death on Tuesday night after a brief illness in Lagos.
