It was a bloody Sunday, January 29, 2023, as a latched containerized truck rolled backward and fell on a commercial bus killing nine passengers, one female adult was rescued alive while two were injured.
The incident which took place at Costain-Ojueleba bridge about 1345hrs involved two vehicles with Registration number: KJA 380 XD, a MACK (40ft container) with white colour and KTU 921 YD, a Suzuki (mini-bus) with passengers.
According to Federal Road Safety Corp’s Route Commander, Public Education Officer Olabisi Sonusi explained that 13 people were involved in the accident, comprising nine males and four females.
Among the nine killed, five were male adults, one male child, two female adults, and one female child.
Route Commander Sonusi explained that the cause of the crash was orchestrated as the truck rolled back before falling on the commercial vehicle.
At the moment, it was learnt that personnel of FRSC have cordoned off the bridge while a crane has succeeded at lifting the container off the bus.
Also, the dead have been evacuated and the remains of the dead taken to the morgue. Meanwhile, the driver of the truck has been arrested and taken into custody at Area C Police Command, Lagos alongside the wrecked bus. Meanwhile, traffic flow has returned to the busy road.
