
The new Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Saka Adewale, psc, mnips, has resumed duty as the 33rd Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command.
CP Ajao S. Adewale officially took over the leadership of the Command from AIG Olatunji Disu, psc, on March 26, 2025, following AIG Disu’s elevation and redeployment.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said CP Ajao, an astute law enforcement officer with an illustrious career spanning over 30 years, brings a wealth of experience, professionalism, and dedication to his new role. Born on November 28, 1968, in Boripe LGA of Osun State, he enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, after obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography Education from the University of Ilorin.
Upon his enlistment, CP Ajao underwent training at the prestigious Nigeria Police Academy, now in Wudil, Kano, before beginning his policing career at ‘D’ Divisional Headquarters, Oyo State Command. Since then, he has served in various capacities across different formations, including COMPOL, Surveillance Squad, Akwa Ibom State Police Command; 2iC Commander, defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Akwa Ibom; DPO, Ikeja, Oworonshoki, Owode Onirin, Alausa (Lagos), Tarka (Benue), and Yemetu (Oyo); ACP, Basic Training Wing, Police College Ikeja; ACP, Rapid Response Squad, Lagos State; ACP, Special Fraud Unit, Force CID, Abuja; DCP, Airport Command, Lagos State; and DCP, Zonal CID, Zone 2, Lagos.
A well-trained officer with expertise in tactical operations, community policing, crime investigation, and intelligence-led policing, CP Ajao has attended numerous professional courses, including Citizenship and Leadership Training, Jos; Junior & Strategic Leadership Command Courses, Jos & Abuja; Tactical Leadership Command Course, Jaji, Kaduna; Community Policing Field Trainers Course, Lagos; and FBI Scene of Crime Examination & Preservation Course;
As he assumes duty as the 33rd Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale psc, mnips, assures residents of his unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring the safety of lives and property, and fostering a robust police-community relationship in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police.
