The impunity of criminal acts in Zamfara is been clipped as the Zamfara Police Command has paraded 16 suspects who were arrested for various offences of banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping, culpable homicide, armed robbery, car snatching and other related offences.

In an encounter with terrorists between Friday 11th to Monday 14th November 2022, the Police Tactical Operatives deployed came under bandits’ attack within Dansadau Emirate after a distress call was received about plans by bandits to attack the communities.
A swift response led to the bandits fleeing into the forest with possible gunshot wounds leading to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, 35 rounds of live ammunition and some bunch of charms belonging to the bandits.
Also, two other bandits were arrested for kidnapping and cattle rustling in some parts of Gusau and Bukkuyum local government area. Suspects nabbed included Sujora Almande, 20, of Kotorkoshi in Bungudu local government area and Bage Mohammed, 40 years old.
The spokesperson of the Command, SP Mohammed Shehu, who confirmed the arrest on Wednesday further explained that the Police Tactical Operatives made various arrests in the last two weeks while on confidence-building patrol along Gusau – Funtua road, acted on intelligence information that led to the arrest of a notorious bandit’s kingpin named Sujora Almandawi as one of the bandits terrorizing villages in Tsafe, Kotorkoshi, Damba and some outskirts of Gusau.
Further intelligence information revealed that the suspect was involved in several attacks on villages, Cattle Rustling, Kidnapping and other related crimes along these routes.
In the course of interrogation, the suspect confessed to serial kidnapping and cattle rustling in more than 10 Communities in Gusau, Tsafe and Bungudu LGAs, where they collected millions of Naira from the relations of victims as ransom. The suspect further confessed to rustling an unspecified number of cows.
In the case of Bage Mohammed, it was further revealed, the suspect was arrested by the joint Police and Vigilante while on confidence-building patrol along Anka – Bukkuyum road.
The arrest was a sequel to an intelligence report received about the suspect and his involvement in the attack on some villages in Bukkuyum and the kidnapping of 11 persons in Dargaji village.
In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to several attacks, kidnappings and rustling of an unspecified number of cows and sheep in some parts of Anka, Bukkuyum and Gummi LGAs. The suspect is currently assisting the Police with useful information for more arrests and recovery.
