Kebbi State Police Command has again expressed its commitment to ensuring a conducive atmosphere for socio-economic development, as well as the conduct 2023 general elections.
The Commissioner, CP Magaji Kontagora, who spoke in Kebbi said he has been able to record landmark achievements in the fight against crimes and criminality.
According to him, on November 20, 2022, at about 0900hrs, the Manager, Kebna ICT JAMB Centre, Zuru, Dr. Michael Ezra Dikki, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Zuru, that on the same date about 0830hrs, he visited the centre and discovered that, one Abubakar Ismail, the site manager, had stolen 83 pieces of HP laptops, belonging to the centre away.
The computers were said to have been taken to one Chukwudi P. Otutu, of Otutu computer centre, Sokoto town, Sokoto State, and sold each one at the cost of N40,000.
On receipt of the complaint, a team of Policemen arrested the suspect and recovered 76 pieces of the said stolen laptops. An investigation is in progress and the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.
Similarly, on November 20, 2022, at about 2030hrs, a gang of kidnappers invaded the residence of one Alhaji Adamu of Laga village, Tsamiya District, Bagudo LGA, attacked and kidnapped him.
Immediately, Policemen swiftly responded and pursued the kidnappers, engaging them in a gun duel. As a result, the victim was rescued unhurt and one of the suspects named Angulu was gunned down.
Similarly, three AK47 rifles, two fabricated Dane Guns, one locally made pistol, 47 Ak47 live ammunition and seven live cartridges were also recorded as exhibits.
However, one Alti Abdullahi aka Altu of Sabon Gari village, Tsamiya District of Bagudo LGA, was also arrested in connection with the case.
In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to have committed the crime and confessed to his gang members, who are currently at large.
They include Dogo Bube, Chakari, Jabbi Daneri and Shehu Tambaya. The suspect further confessed to have been responsible for the kidnapping of one Alhaji Ado of Sanji village and Alhaji Muhammadu of Tungar Gyado area of Sanji village all in Tsamiya District, Bagudo LGA and collected the sum of N3,500,000 as ransom.
An investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing gang members.
However, on the 20th November 2022 about 1930hrs, an unspecified number of kidnappers invaded Laga village Tsamiya, Bagudo LGA and attempted to kidnap one Alhaji Adamu of Laga.
They fired three shots at him but he was not hit, the vigilante succeeded and shot one of the unidentified kidnappers who died. His AK47 riffle with breach No. LZ09119 was recovered alongside 24 rounds of live ammunition. Three empty shells of 7.62mm was also recovered at the scene of the incident.
An investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing gang members.
