…assures parents of adequate security for students

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has said that Lagos will henceforth remain unattractive to criminals except they repent and toll the line of progress and mutual development.
Presenting his scorecard of achievements and breakthroughs in the last two months on Monday at the Police headquarters, Ikeja, he paraded suspects who were involved in various crimes ranging from armed robbery, rape, cultism, domestic violence, land grabbing, gangsterism, hooliganism, sexual abuses and domestic violence, illicit baby trafficking (baby factory syndicates), impersonators among others.
Explaining those arrested, he commended his men for their untiring efforts at arresting 234 armed robbers; 343 cultists, 91 murder cases; recovery 235 arms; 265 ammunition as well as foiling 75 robbery incidences.
Also, 31 vehicles were stolen while 232 vehicles were recovered. In addition, there were 91 cases of rape and defilement; 127 gender based cases while 1,592 hoodlums were arrested.
Besides, CP Odumosu added that 532 traffic suspects were arrested; 103 fatal accidents; and 2,953 motorbikes were seized for traffic offences. In addition, 82 vehicles were said to have been contravened for driving against traffic; while 508 vehicles were contravened for violating 12am-4am curfew in line with Covid-19 rule. Also, 22 Clubs/Bars were raided for Covid-19; 997 suspects were arrested for COVID-19 offences while 184 motorcycles were recovered.
He reiterated that based on the volume of arrests and confiscations, the Police would not rest on its oars in its efforts to fish out evil doers from all nooks and crannies of Lagos State and ensure that the state is viable for economic growth but unpalatable, uninhabitable and uncomfortable for criminal elements.
Explaining further, CP Odumosu noted that, “Owing to the statistics, cases and incidents highlighted, it is clear that the police, with the help of the general public, have done tremendously in combating crimes and criminality within the state and halting the spread of COVID-19 pandemic which has become more deadly with its more than 50 variants.
Giving a detailed report of the Command’s activities for the period, Odumosu observed that there is no area of crime the Command has not tackled.
He thanked the general public with whose help the achievements has been made not to relax. “See something, say something,” and at the same time, he sought for more assistance and information from all and sundry so that the police could achieve more.
“Emphatically, let me reassure you that the Command would do the needful in making sure that the concept of community policing is acceptable and practicable in Lagos State to incorporate all and sundry into policing and security architecture of the state with a view to improving on the general security and public safety of Lagos State,” he reiterated.
There were a total of 132 suspects paraded among a good number of weapons and ammunition.
While reiterating on cultism, Odumosu emphasized that very soon cases of cultism would be reduced drastically hence he implored members of the public to avail them of information.
Speaking on providing students in various schools security to prevent a verisimilitude of kidnapping of students in the north from happening in Lagos, he promised a secured environment noting that they are synergizing with other security agencies with a view to ensuring students are safe in their various schools.
