
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc MNIPS PhD, with Senior Officers and some friends of the Command paid a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Traditional Ruler of Awka (Eze Uzu II), His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Gibson Nwosu OON on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
During the visit, the CP commended the indigenes and residents for their commitment to peace, improved cooperation with security agencies and enhanced safety in Awka.
CP Orutugu, during interactions with the Traditional Ruler, well-revered chiefs and stakeholders in the Palace, urged other Communities in the State to emulate such conduct in every aspect of their lives.

The CP noted that such commitment to peace by Awka indigenes and residents reflected on the recent celebration of Imoka Festival which recorded crime-free and zero-violent activities against the information received overtime on how miscreants under the guise of celebration become unruly and make life unbearable for the good people of the State.
Responding, the Traditional Ruler thanked the Commissioner of Police for coming and prayed for the Command. He also pledged greater support to the State Police Command.
The Palace members, that received the CP’s entourage include, the Prime Minister of Awka, the Chief Security Officer of Nnamdi Azikiwe University who is a member of the Palace, some kingmakers of Awka and many other revered chiefs of the Kingdom, as stated in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
