Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has turned the table against men of the underworld as one Abubakar Adamu, 35, has been arrested in Suleja with 375 rounds of ammunitions.
The suspect was apprehended on Monday, 10th August, 2020 about 0200hrs, at Kuspa area in Suleja inside a red Honda Civic Car with Registration NO. AY 280 KTN.
On searching his car, 375 rounds of AK-47 live ammunitions and 7 AK-47 magazines were recovered.
During interrogation, it was disclosed that the suspect confessed to be a member of armed robbery/kidnapping syndicate, who specialized in transporting arms and ammunitions for criminal gangs.
Also arrested for criminal conspiracy and kidnapping were two suspects, Aliyu Bangaje, 30, and Yusuf Maikoma, 28, both of Mararaba Dandaudu and Injita villages in Munya LGA.
Working on credible information, the operatives gathered that about six unknown gunmen had invaded Kuchi village, Sarkin-Pawa in Munya LGA and kidnapped a female victim to unknown destination.
It was gathered that based on that, men from Sarkin-Pawa Division swung into action and were able to arrest the two suspects.
Confessing to the crime, they explained that they are were members of a six-man-gang, alleging that the victim was handed over to them to be taken to Babur Kabula forest in Munya LGA of the state.
The victim, whose name wasn’t disclosed, was rescued unhurt while exhibits recovered from the suspects included: two locally made short guns, knife and cutlass.
Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Command
ASP Wasiu Abiodun said the case was under investigation, while efforts to arrest other members of the gang was on-going.
