A Nigerian woman and a personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller of Customs, Akpevwe Ogboru, aka Tracta 2, has completed a remarkable 35-day motorbike journey from Nigeria to Belgium.

The expedition, undertaken under the theme “Ride for Women Inclusivity and Cross-Border Research”, was designed to spotlight several important causes advancing gender inclusivity and amplifying girl child empowerment initiatives.

Disclosing this in Abuja on Thursday, Assistant Comptroller of Customs, National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, said she arrived at the Nigerian Embassy in Brussels, Belgium, at 12:47 p.m. on Thursday, 4th September, 2025.

As a result, the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on behalf of the Officers and Men of the Service, commended Assistant Comptroller Ogboru for her bravery and dedication and urges Nigerians to draw inspiration from her pioneering effort.

Adeniyi added that the Service remains committed to creating an enabling environment where such bold initiatives can thrive, contributing not only to institutional growth but also to the advancement of broader societal values.”

Stressing that her extraordinary journey marks a bold demonstration of courage, resilience, and purposeful advocacy, ACC Maiwada disclosed that the journey began on 1st August 2025 and it covered about 10,265km.

Before arriving Brussels, capital of Belgium, Assistant Comptroller Ogboru crossed two continents and navigated through ten countries before her triumphant arrival in Brussels.

According Maiwada, “This remarkable odyssey not only tested her endurance but also symbolises the strength and determination of Nigerian women who continue to break barriers across diverse fields.

“Beyond its advocacy goals, the ride also serves as a unique form of cross-border research, drawing attention to connectivity, mobility, and cultural exchange between nations,” he further added.

Heralding her arrival in Brussels with jubilation and admiration, an act which reflected pride in the Nigerian spirit of excellence, Maiwada reiterated that her accomplishment stands as a “beacon of inspiration to Customs officers, Nigerians, and the global community,” affirming that with determination and vision, boundaries can be transcended.

“As she continues her onward journey back to Nigeria, Tracta 2’s feat underscores the NCS commitment to supporting initiatives that promote resilience, innovation, and inclusivity.

“The Service recognises the significance of this symbolic adventure in projecting a positive national image, strengthening bilateral ties, and reinforcing Nigeria’s leadership in pushing conversations around women and children empowerment.
