The Shipping of Stripes for the 30 newly promoted Rear Admirals in the Nigerian Navy has taken place in Abuja.
The ceremony was held at the Naval Headquarters New Conference Hall, on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla was assisted by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, who was the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH).
During the shipping of stripes, the CNS was assisted by other Service Chiefs, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja (Army) and Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar (Airforce); the former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ogohi and spouses of the promoted officers.
The new Rear Admirals are the Naval spokesperson, Rear Admiral Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, who is now a “Two-Star General”.
Others include Adefemi Kayode, Kabir Mohammed, Gabriel Aligwe, Aliyu Gaya, Shehu Gombe, Godfrey Kwetishe, Robert Obeya, Musa Katagum, Kehinde Odubanjo, Pakiribo Anabraba, Suleiman Ibrahim, Olugbenga Oladipo, Haruna Zego.
Also wearing the new rank are Mohammed Dahiru, Nnamdi Ekwom, Stephen Ibrahim, Mohammed Muye, Aniefiok Uko, Anenechukwu Ezenma, Olufemi Adeleke, Etop Ebe, Sunday Yahaya, Umaru Faruk, Michael Igwe, Ikenna Ubanni, Emmanuel Anakwe, Omotola Olukoya.
However, Joseph Ake was promoted unto retirement.
The promotion of 30 Rear Admirals and 28 Commodores were announced last week Thursday by the Navy Board.
