Following orders by the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, that the Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders carry out continuous raiding of black spots with a view to sanitizing, restoring, and sustaining peace and order in the state, a discreet intelligence has led to the arrest of three suspected “Aro Bagger” cult members.
It was learnt that on the 20th May 2021, three suspected cultists named Onomua Victor, 29 years, Saturday with surname unknown, and Ibru Adegbor all from Jesse community were arrested.
On investigation and interrogation, they confessed to be members of Aro Bagger confraternity, whose cult leader, it was disclosed, is on the run.
However, it was further revealed that the leader was in possession of their arms which they call ‘tool’ popularly known as cut to size gun.
On further interrogation of the suspects, they confessed that one Francis Ogono, 42 years is their gun supplier who is also from Jesse.
However, on the 29th May, 2021, SACU operatives were said to have gone after the gun runner and got him arrested. Exhibit recovered included were single barrel gun, and several tools used in the production of cut to size guns.
Also, the Dragon Patrol teams while on stop and search duty along Ughelli/Warri expressway by Ekrehavwe Community junction intercepted and rescued one Ibude Celestine, a female, of Okoukoko.
The victim was kidnapped about 0730hrs on the 27th May, 2021 in her Lexus Jeep after dropping her kids at School in Okoukoko. However, based on technical intelligence, Dragon patrol teams in conjunction with Agbarho divisional patrol team promptly swung into action and moved to Usiefurun Community Off Ughelli/Warri road.
The vehicle was sighted by the combined teams and the moment the hoodlums sighted the police, they abandoned the victim’s Gold colored Lexus RX 350 Jeep Reg. No. LSD 366 CL, Chassis No. 2T2HK3U08C077223.
They also abandoned their operational vehicle, a black-colored Honda Pilot Jeep Reg. No Lagos KTU 911EJ, chassis No. 2HKYF18604H541056 and fled into the bush.
A search carried out on the abandoned Honda Pilot Jeep led to the recovery of one Pump Action Gun, Breech No. 870150457, and six live cartridges.
The victim and the exhibits have been handed over to Supol Agborho while the investigation is on to arrest the fleeing suspects.
In another development, acting on credible intelligence that a cartel suspected to be dealing in cocaine are domiciled in Sapele, Police operatives attached to SACU went on a discreet operation to investigate and fish out these elements who supply criminals in Sapele with cocaine, Indian hemp, and other illicit drugs, which they depend on before going for their criminal activities.
On 29th May 2021, SACU operatives also stormed their hideout, where over 50 suspects were sighted and immediately took to their hills.
Unfortunately for a few of them, the police arrested Eric Atijegbe, 35 years, Adams Esubi, 46 years, Joshau Oda, 18 years and nine others all of Okpe Delta State.
DSP Bright Edafe, Delta State Police Spokesperson says the exhibits recovered included cocaine, refenol, Indian hemp, cracks and other illicit drugs while the case is currently under investigation.
