The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and the Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Kokumo over the just concluded Governorship Election in the state.
The Association stated that the Officers of the Police and all other security agencies deployed on Saturday displayed excellent professionalism in their conduct during the elections.
Besides, they adhered to the stipulated Rules of Engagements, fairness in the discharge of their duty which enhanced robust civic relationship during and after the election.
While addressing Newsmen on Monday in Benin City, the National President of the Association, Oki Samson, who monitored the election eulogised the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, the Nigeria Police Officers and particularly the host Command headed by CP Johnson Kokumo for displaying gallantry and civility before and during the election.
Speaking further, he described the Edo Gubernatorial poll as one of the most peaceful and violence-free election in recent times despite the various tensions and threats to breakdown of law and order envisaged ahead of the election.
Oki explained, “It is indeed worthy to give credit to the Nigeria Police Officers, the Nigerian Army and all the other security agencies deployed for the election.”
Shortly after his declaration as the Governor-Elect, Governor Godwin Obaseki showered encomium on the security agencies deployed for the Edo poll, particularly the Nigeria Police.
Obaseki reiterated, “I thank the Nigeria Police and other Security Agencies for performing their constitutional functions diligently.”
Collaborating Obaseki’s position, the Governor of Rivers State and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, Gov. Nyesom Wike said, “We thank the Police and other security agencies for shunning partiality during the election”.
The Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Johnson Alailebor also commended the Security Agencies and said, “The Security operatives are partners in progress and have lived up to expectations.
“The success of this election won’t have been possible without the synergy among the law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders”, Alailebor stated.
It would be recalled that the September 19, 2020 governorship election was won by the incumbent Godwin Obaseki of PDP, who scored 307, 955 vote cast wining in 13 local government of the 18 local government areas of Edo State while his closest rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of APC scored 233, 619 vote cast and won in five local government areas of Edo State.
