Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has called on Nigerian youths to take an active role in the nation’s anti-corruption fight, describing them as central to securing Nigeria’s future.

Olukoyede made the call on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, while addressing students of Bright Brains Royal Academy, Abuja, who were on an educational tour of the Commission’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. He was represented by the Head of EFCC Radio, Deputy Commander of the EFCC (DCE) Nwanyinma Okeanu.

He told the visiting students that combating corruption was a collective national duty, stressing that young people must embrace integrity and discipline as they prepare for future leadership roles.

“The fight against corruption is not just for staff of the EFCC but for all Nigerians, particularly you—the youths—who are the leaders of tomorrow,” he said. “As future leaders, you must equip yourselves with the values, discipline, and knowledge needed to achieve your dreams.”

In a statement by the Head, Media and Publicity of EFCC, Dele Oyewale, Olukoyede encouraged the students to pay close attention to the lectures delivered during the visit, noting that the insights would help them make better decisions and contribute meaningfully to national development.

During the interactive session, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE II Aisha Mohammed, who heads the Commission’s Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit, warned the students against sharing or storing nude images on their devices. She explained that such actions make young people vulnerable to sextortion, blackmail, and cyber exploitation.

“Reject all requests for your nude pictures, whether from friends, classmates, or even relatives,” she cautioned. “Stop snapping and saving such images on your phones. Hackers can phish into your device and use them to extort you.”

Mohammed also urged the students to serve as anti-corruption ambassadors by promoting integrity within their schools, families, and communities. She gave an introductory lecture on cybercrime, explaining the roles of “dependers” and “enablers” in criminal digital activities and advising the students to avoid both.

A presentation on cybersecurity by Superintendent of the EFCC, SE Oloyede Johnson, further exposed the students to the modern threat landscape. Johnson explained the role of Artificial Intelligence in strengthening cybersecurity systems and outlined key branches of cybersecurity, from operational and information security to network security and disaster recovery.

He also highlighted common cyber threats, including malware, phishing, spyware, DDoS attacks, cyberterrorism, and AI-driven cyberattacks. Johnson added that global demand for cybersecurity professionals continues to rise, presenting career opportunities in cloud security, penetration testing, defensive cybersecurity, and governance, risk and compliance (GRC).

In her vote of thanks, Hajja Umar Sanda, who represented the school’s proprietor, expressed appreciation to the EFCC for the insightful engagement and the warm reception given to the students.
