In a bid to enhance inter-agency cooperation in the fight against economic and financial crimes, the Area Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kano/Jigawa Command, Comptroller Dalhatu Abubakar, paid a courtesy visit to the Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kano Zonal Directorate, Commander of the EFCC CE Ibrahim Shazali on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

During the visit, both leaders underscored the importance of deepening the existing collaboration between the NCS and the EFCC to curb illicit financial flows, smuggling, and other economic crimes that threaten the nation’s economic stability.

In his opening remarks, the Customs boss commended the EFCC for its relentless efforts in tackling corruption and financial malfeasance, noting that a stronger partnership between the two agencies would significantly improve intelligence sharing, joint operations, and enforcement. “The Nigeria Customs Service is committed to working closely with the EFCC to block revenue leakages, dismantle smuggling networks, and ensure that perpetrators of economic crimes face the full wrath of the law”, he said.

In his response, Shazali expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness to collaborate more robustly with the NCS. He emphasized that “synergy between law enforcement agencies is critical in addressing the complex nature of financial crimes. By combining our expertise and resources, we can more effectively safeguard the nation’s economy.”

He further applauded and congratulated the Customs Comptroller on the recent arrest and interception of the sum of $1,154,000 at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport Kano.  Abubakar in return congratulated the EFCC Director on the diligent and successful prosecution of the case.
