ENHANCING GRASSROOT SECURITY: 9 BRIGADE COMMANDER STRENGTHENS CIVIL-MILITARY RELATIONSHIPS WITH ONIGBONGBO LCDA

In a deliberate push to ensure peace and security within its area of responsibility, the Commander, 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ayokunle Olufemi Owolabi, has met Honourable Moyosore Adebanjo, the Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) at the LCDA secretariat with a view to strengthening civil-military relationships.

The courtesy visit took place on Wednesday, 18th February, 2026, is part of his ongoing efforts to strengthen ties and enhance security at the grassroots level in Lagos State.

Brigadier General Owolabi emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Brigade and Local Government authorities in addressing security concerns within their communities.

He noted that effective security management requires a whole-of-society approach, where military formations and civil institutions work in close synergy.

While highlighting the strategic importance of Onigbongbo and its environs, the Brigade Commander stressed that sustained peace and stability in the areas are critical to overall security in Lagos State.

He assured the Chairman of 9 Brigade’s commitment to supporting lawful initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives, business ventures, and properties.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA Honourable Adebanjo expressed appreciation for the visit of the Brigade Commander and commended the Brigade for its professionalism and dedication to maintaining security. He pledged continued cooperation with 9 Brigade, particularly in information sharing, community engagement, and Cooperate Social Responsibility.

Spokesperson of the Brigade, Major Akinola Ajibola in a statement said that the visit provided an opportunity to discuss areas of mutual interest, including community-based security strategies, and mechanisms to strengthen communication channels between the Brigade and local authority.

The engagements concluded with a shared resolve to deepen collaboration in order to foster a safe, secure, and peaceful environment for residents of Onigbongbo communities.
