The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) under Governor Charles Soludo, in its 11th meeting at the new Government House now known as the Light House, Awka, approved several contracts after reviewing memos presented by various ministries and agencies of the state government.
The Council approved the Nwafor Orizu College of Education access roads; the Umunze-Umuchu Bye-Pass and erosion and flood control; and the construction of a 2.28 km road connecting St. Augustine Community Primary School, Rest Assured Hotel, Community High School, Umunze, and the Umuchu By-pass.
According to the State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, ANSEC also awarded the contract for the construction of a Country Club at the Ekwulobia Stadium Complex, as well as the rehabilitation of Nya Ranch Road, located beside the old government house in Awka.
Also, ANSEC approved the additional works on the Specialist Hospital in Fegge, Onitsha South; the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) to install road signs, rumble strips, flashing caution lights, and thermoplastic speed bumps at select locations across the state; and the reconstruction of dilapidated building blocks at Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe.
These are parts of Governor Soludo’s projects in turning Anambra into a destination and a livable homeland, the Dubai-Silicon Valley of the country, where economic and business activities thrive.
The governor’s transformation of the state is also evident in vital sectors of the state’s economy, including education and health, where Soludo was recognised as the most performing governor in primary healthcare in the Southeast region and overall, nationally, transportation, innovation, security, agriculture, human capital development, among others.
