In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on February 18, 2026, the Command said the deployment forms part of a comprehensive operational order designed to ensure a peaceful, free and fair electoral process.
The operation features a combined security team drawn from sister agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), among others.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Miller G. Dantawaye, charged all deployed officers to maintain the highest level of professionalism and ensure adequate security coverage at polling units and collation centres across the Territory.
He emphasised that personnel must remain vigilant, impartial and courteous in the discharge of their duties, while respecting the rights of all citizens throughout the electoral process.
The Command also announced that there will be a restriction of movement across the FCT from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026. The restriction will exempt essential service providers and duly accredited election officials.
Residents of the FCT are urged to cooperate fully with security personnel and comply with all operational guidelines during the restriction period.
