The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested four members of a notorious armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate, recovering six stolen vehicles and more than ₦15 million in the process.

Disclosing this in a statement by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the breakthrough followed coordinated operations by the Jabi, Gwagwalada and Mabushi Police Divisions, which initially recovered three stolen vehicles. A follow-up investigation by the Command’s Scorpion Squad widened the crackdown, leading to the arrest of additional suspects, the recovery of three more vehicles, and the seizure of ₦15,280,000 allegedly linked to the syndicate.

Vehicles recovered include a black Toyota Prado SUV (2008 model), a grey KIA Optima (2009 model), and multiple Toyota Corolla and Camry models taken from different parts of the FCT.

The suspects in custody have been identified as ex-convict Dalhatu Bashiru, Nwadigo Emmanuel, Uchenna Kalu, and Alhaji Jazuli Adamu, who police described as the principal receiver of stolen cars. Adamu was arrested in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State with over ₦15 million said to be payment for the latest batch of stolen vehicles.

Police investigations further revealed that Adamu works with an accomplice, Alhaji Abdulkarim Gabeida Ibrahim, a Niger Republic national accused of coordinating the resale of stolen vehicles across the border. He is currently on the run, with efforts ongoing to track him down.

All suspects and recovered exhibits remain in police custody as the Command intensifies efforts to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, commended the officers involved in the operation and urged residents to install functional vehicle tracking systems to aid swift recovery in the event of theft. He also appealed to the public to provide useful information to assist ongoing security operations, using the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
