The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its sustained fight against violent crime with the arrest of six notorious armed robbery suspects linked to a series of attacks around nightclubs and recreational centres within the Abuja metropolis.

According to the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the successful operation followed credible intelligence received by the Command, prompting the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc., to order an immediate clampdown on the criminal gang.

Acting on the directive, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), DCP Aliyu Abubakar, deployed a discreet, intelligence-led operation spearheaded by the Scorpion Squad under the leadership of ACP Victor Godfrey.

At about 5:45 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2026, operatives tracked and raided the gang’s hideout at Dakwa, Dei-Dei area of the FCT, where the suspects were apprehended while allegedly planning another robbery operation.

The suspects arrested are Suleiman Magaji (25), Abdullahi Abubakar (20), Abubakar Shitu (25), Sani Ibrahim (17), Rabiu Dahiru (19), and Ahmen Abdullahi (26).

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were responsible for several armed robbery incidents across the FCT, including a recent attack at Crystal Lounge in Wuse II, where a hotel guest was robbed of gold jewellery valued at approximately ₦15 million. The stolen items were reportedly sold for ₦1.2 million.

During the raid, police recovered several incriminating exhibits, including a black toy gun, local charms, long and short knives, and forty-two bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa.

The suspects and recovered items are currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the operatives for their professionalism and gallantry, CP Dantawaye also praised members of the public for providing timely and useful intelligence that contributed to the success of the operation.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ridding the Federal Capital Territory of criminal elements and urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious. Members of the public were also encouraged to continue supporting police operations by promptly reporting suspicious persons or activities through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 07057337653.

The FCT Police Command assured residents that sustained intelligence-driven operations would continue to ensure a safer and more secure Abuja.
