The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has foiled an armed robbery operation at Karu Site, Abuja, arresting one suspect and recovering a firearm and other dangerous weapons.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, December 27, 2025, at about 3:43 a.m., following a distress call received through the FCT Police Command emergency line reporting an ongoing armed robbery at a residential building in the area.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said a response team from Karu Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), was immediately deployed to the scene. On arrival, the suspects reportedly opened fire on the police operatives, who responded professionally and engaged the assailants.
According to Adeh, during the operation, one of the suspects, identified as Abdul Mohammed, a 20-year-old male from Masaka in Nasarawa State, was subdued and arrested, while two other accomplices escaped.
Items recovered from the scene include two mobile phones, one locally fabricated firearm, four live cartridges, two knives, one cutlass and one torchlight.
The arrested suspect was said to have sustained injuries during the encounter and is currently receiving medical attention. Police added that investigations are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
