The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has foiled a car-snatching attempt and recovered three vehicles following a swift response by operatives attached to the Galadima Division.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred on December 12, 2025, at about 7:43 p.m. during a routine stop-and-search operation around Efab Bridge. She said the police operatives at the checkpoint heard a gunshot from a nearby location and immediately moved to investigate.
On arrival at the scene, the officers reportedly encountered four armed suspects who opened fire while attempting to escape with two vehicles: a 2014 Hyundai Elantra with registration number DKA 776 FW and a 2008 Lexus IS 250 with registration number KWL 530 BM. The police responded promptly, applying tactical measures that forced the suspects to abandon the vehicles and flee the area.

Following the engagement, all three vehicles linked to the incident were recovered at the scene. These include the two targeted vehicles as well as the suspects’ operational vehicle, described as a white Volkswagen.
The FCT Police Command said investigations are ongoing to identify, track, and apprehend the suspects involved in the attempted crime.
