Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command attached to the Anti-kidnapping Unit and the Rubochi Division Police Headquarters in the continued fight against kidnapping in FCT, rescued 14 kidnapped victims on January 24, 2024, at about 0530 hrs.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement, said the combined team, acting on credible intelligence stormed a kidnapper’s den located at Ukya village via Nasarawa State bordering FCT, and on sighting the police operatives, the hoodlums’ engaged open fire on the operatives which resulted in a gun duel.
Accordingly, the police operatives decimated one of the kidnappers as the rest scampered to a nearby forest with various degrees of bullet wounds.
Ade said the hostages who were rescued unhurt have since been reunited with their loved ones.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna G. Garba, has reiterated his commitment to rid FCT of Criminality in all its manifestations and maintenance of peace for all and sundry.
