The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified its proactive crime prevention efforts through special church patrol operations across forested and border communities within the territory.
The operation, conducted on Sunday, November 9, 2025, followed the directive of the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, to enhance the safety of worship centres and residents during the ember months.
The patrol was conducted by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in collaboration with personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS), local hunters, and vigilante groups. It covered communities linking Bwari–Kaduna State, Bwari–Niger State, and Gwagwalada–Niger State, running from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the initiative was designed to strengthen public confidence, deter criminal activity, and ensure that residents can attend religious services without fear of harassment or attacks.

During the patrol, church leaders in the affected areas were engaged and reassured of the Police Commissioner’s unwavering commitment to their safety and that of their congregations. They were also sensitized on key security measures, including the need to limit late-night religious gatherings, maintain active communication with security agencies, and promptly report any suspicious movements or persons.
The Commissioner has further directed that all identified routes used by criminal elements be blocked as part of intelligence-led preventive actions. Strategic security posts in forest areas remain operational and under constant supervision.
The Command emphasized that security is a shared responsibility, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the following emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08068587311, 08107314192 (CRU), or 07038979348 (PRO, FCT Command).
CP Dantawaye assured residents that the FCT remains safe, reiterating the Command’s commitment to dynamic and sustained strategies to maintain a crime-free environment.
