The Federal Government through the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced an increase in the cost of the Nigerian Passport.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kenneth Udo, the new fees which take effect from September 1, 2024, are part of efforts to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.
He said, a 32-page passport booklet with 5-year validity currently charged at Thirty-five Thousand Naira (N35,000) will become Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000), while a 64-page Passport booklet with 10-year validity which is currently Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000) will become one Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000). The fees remain unchanged in the diaspora.
The NIS regrets any inconvenience this increase might cause prospective applicants and assures Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to transparency and quality service delivery at all times.
