The FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in collaboration with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), have donated medical equipment to the Asokoro District Hospital, Abuja.
Presenting the medical equipment to the hospital, Director General of NIMASA, Alhaji Bashir Jamoh, who was represented by the Director of Special Duties, Mr. Isichei Osamgbi, said it was part of efforts to add value to the services of the hospital, adding that it was also part of the corporate social responsibility of the Agency.
“We will remain partners with FEMA and the hospital in the service to humanity”.
“The gesture is to support FEMA and Asokoro Hospital for a good job of caring for the sick and those in emergencies,” he said.
Receiving the equipment, the Medical Director, Asokoro District Hospital, Dr. Uche Afiomah who was elated at the donation said it was critical and would add value to the services of the hospital particularly in ensuring the health of the sick.
In a remark, the Director General of FEMA, Alhaji Abbas Idriss informed that Asokoro District Hospital was chosen for the donation because “they are our partners, our first point of contact when there is an emergency. And they have never rejected us”.
The DG, in a statement by the Head of Public Affairs of FEMA, Nkechi Isa, explained that the donation was symbolic, stating that FEMA was carrying out a needs assessment of all hospitals in the FCT and would make more donations.
According to the statement, the equipment donated includes 5 drip stands, 10 thermostats, 5 suturing packs, 1 autoclave sterilizer, and 2 delivery packs. Others are 2 beds, 1 suction machine, 10 bedsheets, some hand sanitizers, and nose masks.
