The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned a new Information Technology (IT) Centre named in honour of the illustrious daughter of Oyo State, Mrs. Onikepo Akande.
The centre is designed to provide IT training programmes, particularly targeting women and youth, equipping them with the digital skills required to gain a competitive edge in the global technology space.
Speaking at the commissioning, Senator Tinubu underscored the role of digital skills in driving national development and announced that an additional 10 IT Centres will soon be launched across various states.
According to her, this initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises economic diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing, and innovation.
The First Lady expressed optimism that the centres will serve as catalysts for youth empowerment, women’s inclusion, and national productivity, while strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global digital economy.
