The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, has instructed the Kaduna Operations Office to deploy a response team for rescue operations and rapid damage assessment in the flooded communities in Kaduna State.
The response team, led by the Chief Search and Rescue Officer from NEMA Kaduna Operations Office, Mr. Abdulkadir Mohammed, is working in collaboration with the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) and other stakeholders to rescue victims and assess the level of damage. Areas already covered include Kigo Road, Nassarawa, Bashama Road, Haliru Dantoro Road, Kabala Constain, Rafin Guza, and adjoining communities.

The flooding, caused by torrential rainfall and the overflowing of River Kaduna, displaced several residents and destroyed properties, leaving many households vulnerable. Some displaced persons are currently taking temporary refuge with relatives and friends in safer locations.
According to the Head, Press Unit of NEMA, Manzo Ezekiel, rescue operations and assessments are still ongoing as NEMA continues to coordinate with relevant agencies to mitigate the impact of the disaster and provide the necessary humanitarian support to affected persons.
He stated that more details will be provided as they become available.
