FOC EAST HOSTS SECOND EDITION EASTERN NAVAL COMMAND GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral CD Okehie, on Saturday, 21st February, 2026, hosted the second edition of the Eastern Naval Command Golf Tournament at the Calabar Golf Course.

The event attracted distinguished personalities from within and outside Cross River State, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, the Special Guest of Honour, Vice Admiral Dele Joseph Ezeoba (rtd), the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Nigerian Army, the Flag Officers Commanding Naval Doctrine Command and Logistics Command and His Royal Majesty, Igwe Dr. Patrick Chinedu Acholonu.

Also in attendance were the Commandant, Naval War College Nigeria; the Chief Staff Officer, Eastern Naval Command; the Command Coordinator NOWA, commanders, commandants, commanding officers of units under Eastern Naval Command, as well as several senior serving and retired officers.

The tournament began with a ceremonial tee-off performed by the Special Guest of Honour, Vice Admiral DJ Ezeoba (rtd), the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral CD Okehie, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Dr. Patrick Chinedu Acholonu and Engr. Bassey Nkposong, Captain of the Calabar Golf Club.

While highlighting the significance of the tournament, Rear Admiral Okehie outlined two key values to include golf as promoting physical fitness. “Walking through this course covers approximately 10 kilometres. It is a cardio-intensive course, undulating and challenging.

“Second, golf fosters networking and social interaction. It provides an opportunity to meet people, build relationships, and strengthen bonds. Golf is a community; it is a family.”

The event were concluded with the presentation of trophies, awards, and souvenirs to deserving winners and participants.
