FOC WEST LAUDS 81 DIV RELENTLESS COMMITMENT TO SECURITY

…AS CORPS COMMANDER EDUCATION, NA STRENGTHENS TIES WITH DIV

The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Michael Oamen says that the relentless commitment of the 81 Division, Nigerian Army, to maintaining security in Lagos and Ogun States, is commendable.

He acknowledged that the Division’s proactive efforts in safeguarding lives and property cannot be overemphasized.

Rear Admiral Oamen made the commendation while speaking during a courtesy visit to the Division’s Headquarters, 3 Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He reaffirmed his readiness to enhance synergy in addressing security challenges within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) and expressed gratitude for the GOC’s unwavering support.

In his response, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division, Major Genera Farouk Mijinyawa, congratulated Rear Admiral Oamen on his appointment as FOC Western Naval Command.

While appreciating his dedication to tackling security challenges, illegal activities, as well as the successes recorded under Operation AWATSE, the GOC assured the FOC of continued cooperation and a strengthened security framework between their commands.

Highlights of the visits included the presentation of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book, and group photographs, further reinforcing the spirit of collaboration and shared commitment to national development.

In another development, the Corps Commander Education (CCE), Major General Peter Oguntola, paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Farouk Umar Mijinyawa, at the Division’s Headquarters Conference Room.

During the visit, Major General Oguntola emphasized the importance of strategic partnership in advancing the objectives of the Nigerian Army Education Corps (NAEC).

He outlined strategic initiatives which are, human capital development, revitalization of command schools, and enhanced collaboration with stakeholders.

The CCE also expressed his appreciation for the GOC’s steadfast commitment and impactful as well as timely interventions in command secondary schools within the Division’s area of responsibility, which have significantly contributed to their academic development.

In response, the GOC, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa congratulated the CCE on his well-deserved appointment and applauded his exemplary leadership style.

He highlighted the positive impact of General Oguntola’s efforts on the Nigerian Army academic sector, particularly recalling his exemplary service as Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Gen Farouk reiterated his commitment to improving the standards of Command and Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) schools within the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR), assuring the CCE of his unwavering support for NAEC initiatives.

Both visits were attended by principal staff officers and unit commanders from the Division.
