FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER VISITS CHINA TO BROADEN DEVELOPMENTAL COLLABORATIONS

The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, in a bid to strengthen collaboration between Nigeria and China, has met with the Governor of Hunan Province, His Excellency Mao Weiming, in Changsha, China, for high-level discussions aimed at deepening collaboration between Nigeria and Hunan Province at both federal and sub-national levels.

The key areas for mutual cooperation, including seed technology improvement, agricultural processing, and enhanced provision of agricultural machinery.

During the meeting, the Honourable Minister conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s deep commitment to agriculture and food security as pillars of Nigeria’s national stability.

Both parties our source revealed, also explored opportunities for Chinese investment in Nigeria’s agricultural value chain and industrial sectors, positioning Nigeria as a strategic gateway to the broader African market.

Other areas of kin interest and focal points include technology transfer, cultural exchange, and skills development—underscoring a shared vision of sustainable growth and mutual prosperity. The pursuit of elevated diplomatic cooperation and strategic collaboration fittingly aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
