Following a collision of two vehicles at Iyanaoworo-Obalande Expressway on Monday, December 5, 2022 about 2133hrs leading to the death of one person, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), has called on drivers to avoid all forms of distractions while driving.
The vehicles involved Black Toyota Prado Jeep with registration number: LND 13 DG and Ash Toyota Sienna car with Reg number: SMK 521 GK
According to the Route Commander, FRSC Public Education Officer, Olabisi Sonusi who confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday said the Lagos Island Command responded immediately to salvage the situation.
She further stated that the crash involved five persons after the driver had lost of concentration and engaged in speeding. As a result, one person was feared dead and one other person severely injured in the crash.
“The dead person was taken to Yaba morgue while the injured victim was taken to Gbagada hospital,” the statement added.
However, men of the FRSC and LASEMA team cleared all obstruction and ensured free flow of traffic after the crash, while the accidental vehicles were towed by LASEMA to Bariga Police Station.
The Sector Commander FRSC Lagos Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide, therefore, called on motorists to desist from overspeeding and getting distracted while driving.
“Festive periods are here, you must drive with care and caution,” the commander reiterated.
