Following the unfortunate incident of explosion of ordinance in Giwa military Barracks, the Theatre Commander Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar has carried out an assessment of the scene for evaluation of the situation.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Theatre Commander, Component Commanders and Staff Officers of the command on the 1st May, 2025.

General Abubakar appreciated the efforts of the gallant troops of Operation HADIN KAI, Federal as well as State Fire fighters who toiled all night to contain the fire from escalating.

He called on the public not to panic but continue with their normal businesses while calling on inhabitants of Maiduguri Metropolis, particularly those living around the Giwa Barracks to desist from picking up any strange object as some fragments and unexploded ordnance may have spread during the explosions.

While appreciating the immense support of the populace, he also called on the public to report any suspicious behaviour, persons, and ordnance to the Command or security agencies for immediate action.
