Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has commended the member representing Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency, Hon. Kabiru Ahmadu Mai Palace, for his impactful interventions in the healthcare sector, describing them as timely and complementary to the state government’s development agenda.
The Governor gave the commendation on Thursday while commissioning the renovated and expanded Dr. Karima Primary Healthcare Centre in Tudun Wada, Gusau, the state capital.
A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said the project forms part of Hon. Mai Palace’s 2025 Constituency Projects. The healthcare facility was upgraded from a 10-bed centre to a 40-bed Primary Healthcare Centre, significantly improving its capacity to serve residents.

Speaking at the event, Governor Lawal expressed satisfaction with the lawmaker’s contributions to the health sector, noting that healthcare remains a critical pillar of his administration’s Six-Point Agenda.
“Alhamdulillah, as I keep saying, all components of our Six-Point Agenda—from security, education and health to agriculture, infrastructure and economic development—are steadily falling into place. Zamfara State is firmly on the path to prosperity,” the Governor said.
He highlighted ongoing reforms in the health sector, including improved access to essential medicines, preventive healthcare, immunisation, antenatal and nutrition services, water, sanitation and hygiene initiatives, and strengthened healthcare financing.
Governor Lawal described the upgraded PHC as vital to grassroots healthcare delivery, noting that such facilities provide first-line medical services and complement secondary and tertiary health institutions.
He further disclosed that Hon. Mai Palace is also constructing a complete ward at Shagari Primary Healthcare Centre, renovating three blocks at the General Hospital, Magami, building about 30 classroom blocks across several schools, and constructing a 250-capacity Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre in Tsafe.

Commending the lawmaker and other stakeholders supporting government initiatives, the Governor said such partnerships are essential to delivering critical infrastructure and empowerment programmes across the state.
Earlier, Hon. Kabiru Ahmadu Mai Palace thanked Governor Lawal for commissioning the upgraded facility, describing the project as a contribution to improving access to quality healthcare at the community level.
“Healthcare facilities like this play a crucial role in providing first-line medical services to our people. This informed my decision to support the initiative in alignment with the Governor’s Six-Point Agenda,” he said.
The commissioning of the upgraded PHC marks another milestone in Zamfara State’s ongoing efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and improve the wellbeing of its citizens.
