…CALLS HIM “USELESS,” ORDERS AIDES TO LOCK HIM UP
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered the arrest of a soldier of the Nigerian Army, for allegedly driving against traffic along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on Tuesday.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor, Wale Ajetunmobi, revealed this in videos shared on his X handle on Tuesday.
His caption read, “This Morning: Lawless okada riders plying one-way along Lagos-Badagry Expressway left their motorcycles and passengers upon sighting the convoy of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“One of the offenders — a Lance Corporal in the Army — was arrested with his bike.”
The video revealed that the Governor engaged in a verbal exchange with the soldier, who was wearing a civil dress.
Despite his appeal to the Governor, “I am sorry,” Sanwo-Olu ordered his security aides to go and lock him up while holding bottled water.
“Being a soldier, that is the more reason I will lock you up. Let your father come and rescue you. Useless boy, you are telling me you are a soldier,” he concluded as the soldier was led into the SUV.
However, one of the videos showed some motorcyclists driving away with their passengers to escape arrest by the governor’s security officers. Some of them escaped on foot, abandoning their motorcycles and the passengers, the video further revealed.
In another video, Governor Sanwo-Olu ordered the officers to put one of the motorcyclists who claimed to be a soldier into the vehicle, thundering that he was going to lock him up until his father comes to rescue him.
The Governor, who also addressed some passengers who patronised the motorcyclists, said: “You people are the ones causing this. Maybe I should arrest two of you and put you in the guardroom.
“You’re entering Okada, and they are taking one way. Is it good? And they’ll now hit you; you’ll go and fall, and you die; they’ll say the government killed you. What a shame!”
The Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, had earlier on Tuesday revealed that the governor was at the Lagos State University, Ojo Campus, for the official unveiling of the Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Centre located inside the campus.
