
The Governor of Borno State, Prof Babagana Umaru Zulum has expressed satisfaction with the kinetic and non-kinetic measures employed by the Nigerian Navy in combating the nuisance value of terror and insurgency in the North East region of the country.
He thanked the Nigerian Armed Forces for its dexterity and the Nigerian Navy in particular, for the excellent work being done by personnel of Naval Base Lake Chad in the Baga-Lake Chad axis of Bornu.
Making this submission on Thursday in Abuja at the Naval Headquarters, during a courtesy visit on the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, he stated that there was a lot more to do for unhindered movement through the water-ways from Baga-Tchad to continue smoothly.

Stating that the visit underscores his unflinching commitment to the security of lives and property of all Bornu citizens, Gov Zulum pledged to continue supporting the NN via Naval Base Lake Chad to fulfill his resolve.
The Governor was accompanied on the visit to the Naval Headquarters by Senators Mohammed Ali Ndume- Borno South; Mohammed Tahir Monguno- Borno North; Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN)- Borno Central and Honourable Engineer Bukar Talba (FNSE)- member House of Representatives (Monguno/Marte/Nganzai) as well as Professor Usman Tar- Honorable Commissioner of Information and Internal Security.

In his remarks, the CNS appreciated Gov Zulum for the auspicious visit, just as he thanked members of the National Assembly who accompanied the Governor.
Assuring the Borno government that the NN was undeterred in its commitment to fulfill its constitutional mandate of protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity especially in the Lake Chad region, he explained that many operational and tactical measures were underway to increase the effectiveness of Naval Base Lake Chad.
He assured the Governor that efforts were being redoubled to secure the general Baga- Lake Chad axis.
