GOVERNMENT RECEIVES REMAINS OF GHANA’S MINISTER OF DEFENCE, OTHER VICTIMS OF MILITARY HELICOPTER CRASH

The Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, who led a high-level government delegation, Federal Republic of Ghana, was at the Air Force Base in Accra on Wednesday night to receive the remains of eight individuals who died in a military helicopter crash in Adansi, Ashanti Region.

The Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six other government officials were killed in the crash in the Southern Ashanti region of the country.on Wednesday, 6th August, 2025.

The Ghana Air Force helicopter transporting the caskets arrived at exactly 9:30 p.m., where a solemn ceremony was carried out in the presence of senior government officials, military officers, and party executives.

Dignitaries included the Service Commanders, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey; Government Spokesperson and Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu; Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu; Presidential Aide Joyce Bawa Mogtari; Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo; and Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Stanislav Xoese Dogbe.

It was learnt that following the aircraft’s arrival, a short military ceremony was held while prayers were offered, and military protocols were duly observed in honour of the deceased.

The remains were later conveyed in hearses from the Air Force Base to the morgue.
