Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on the people of the state to embrace peace as a foundation for unity and sustainable development.
The governor made the call on Sunday, 21st September, 2025 during his first public outing after resuming office from six months emergency rule suspension of democratic culture in the state.
During a Thanksgiving Service at the 2025 Polo Harvest at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Opobo, Gov Fubara was accompanied by his wife and close associates.
Speaking at the service, Governor Fubara stressed that peace is the greatest gift anyone can wish for in life.

According to him, “Peace with yourself is good health and the most important thing. Peace in the community brings development to the people.”
He further noted that his attendance was to quietly glorify God for His benevolence towards him, his family, and the state, promising to return at a later date for a full thanksgiving service.
The governor also expressed gratitude to the church and the people for their steadfast prayers, assuring them of his continuous commitment to the progress of Rivers State.

Governor Fubara was accompanied by Amaopusenibo Fubara Hart, Chief Oris Onyiri, Chief Damiete Miller, Hon. Theodore Georgewill, and Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie.
The service concluded with prayers for him and his family by the church.
