GTCO Fashion Weekend 2

The 7th edition of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) GM Fashion Weekend started on Saturday in Lagos in the most glamorous and prestigious way. The Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, Mr. Segun Agbaje, explained the importance attached to the event.

In his opening speech, declaring the two-day exquisite fashion show open, he noted that the fashion weekend has gained tremendous followership in recent times, making it more than an event but a collective effort to uplift, empower, and celebrate unbelievable talents abundant in the continent.

Reiterating that the vision of the show is “promoting enterprise,” it also provides a platform to support small businesses and bring African vast creativity to bare.

Agbaje further emphasized that fashion has become a “powerful engine for economic empowerment” beyond the rhythm of self-expression.

“At GTCO, we believe that innovation and inclusivity go hand in hand, and by making space for more voices, we’re driving an industry that reflects the diversity and richness of African talent.

“Fashion, like the world around us, is constantly evolving, and we are dedicated to staying ahead of the curve by fostering partnerships and nurturing young entrepreneurs who will define its future.”

With flurries of vendors, it offered significant opportunity and exposure to fashion enthusiasts to array of latest styles, textures and fabrics across the globe with significant locally made “adire” making a quantum of statements.

With the Runway attracting hugest audience especially among the “Gen Zs,” the display in stylishly adorned wears resonated a bold appeal that GTCO Fashion Weekend has garnered unfathomable dominance that is unparalleled.

At the masterclass, Lulu Kennedy held the audience spellbound dishing from her reservoir of knowledge her career progression culminating into making a statement in the fashion industry while thanking GTCO for the assemblage of professionals thereby grooming younger talents to excel in their career.

Explaining the topic: “Incubating Talent: Supporting the Next Generation,” Lulu Kennedy, the Founder and Director of Fashion East, a not-for-profit talent incubator, has played a major role in launching the careers of over 200 British fashion designers, including Kim Jones, Simone Rocha, and JW Anderson, while shaping London’s cultural landscape.

A former Editor-at-Large for Love magazine, she has earned a reputation for unconventionality and newness, appearing regularly on industry power lists. In recognition of her impact, she was awarded a Member British Empire (MBE) in 2012 for services to the fashion industry.
