The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed has commended the Corps Members who served as ad-hoc staff during the governorship elections in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa States for their strict compliance with the electoral laws.
He hailed them for their selfless services and patriotic spirit in contributing to the development of democratic government in the country.
General Ahmed disclosed this today while monitoring the Corps Members on election duties in some local government areas within Kogi State.
He stated further that the security and welfare of Corps Members remain a topmost priority of his administration.
While at Lokoja Local Government Secretariat, Crowther Memorial College, Lokoja, and other polling centres where he made an on-the-spot assessment of the election, the Corps Members applauded the Scheme for giving them the opportunity to contribute their quota to national development.
According to the NYSC Director, Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, in a statement, reports from NYSC officials in Imo and Bayelsa States on the performances of Corps Members on election duties also revealed their total compliance with the laid down rules and regulations.
The Director General, however, appealed to security agencies to ensure that all Corps Members who participated in the election were escorted to their different RAC centres in good time.
