An ICT lecturer in an unnamed Polytechnics has been assassinated by hired assassin, police says on Thursday.
The victim, Engr. Muftau Waliu, 41, was trailed by some unidentified gunmen who drove in an unregistered tinted Lexus Jeep, shot him at Itori area on Wednesday night.
Wuliu, who teaches ICT in the Department of Electrical and Electronics at the Polytechnics was said to be driving in his Toyota Corrolla car with registration number: Lagos AAA 95 GA when the incident occurred.
According to Police Situation Reports, the lecturer was driving from Ifo Axis inward Obada Oko when he was accosted by the assailants who pumped volleys of rounds on him before the victim lost control and rammed into a pit and died on the spot.
It was gathered that his personal belongings were intact as nothing was removed from his car.
However, Police preliminary reports revealed that before Wuliu met his untimely death, he had an encounter with some of his co-lecturers identified as Adebayo Oyefusi and Oduleye Olatunji over his stand during the Association of Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) election.
Meanwhile, his blood-soaked remains have been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary as investigations continue to unravel the misery behind his killing.
