CNS DIALOGUES WITH TROOPS IN YENOGOA 1

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, as part of his familiarization visit to Commands and platforms, on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, conducted a one-day working visit to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

During the visit, which was akin to homecoming, having been at Camp PORBENI as Command Admin Officer, Chief Staff Officer and Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command at different times in his career, he had a tete-a-tete and a frank dialogue with officers and men in Yenagoa.

The visit gave the CNS the opportunity to deepen conversations surrounding issues of the welfare of both senior and junior ratings.

Vice Admiral Abbas, therefore, had a tour to the proposed site of Nigerian Navy hospital, Bayelsa; the permanent site of Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH, and accommodation for officers and men at Palm Estate, Yenagoa.

In his remarks, he assured that all issues raised concerning welfare and securing the maritime environment would be addressed.

The visit, laced with nostalgic emotions, saw the civilian staffers of the Command who had worked with the CNS before give a rousing ovation.

After visiting Headquarters South South Operation DELTA SAFE, the CNS undertook a detailed inspection of ongoing infrastructural works in Yenagoa.
