A chilly cold drove through the spines of people of Katsina state particularly the families of Safiya Basiru, a 13-year-old girl as three adolescent boys narrated how they gruesomely raped and later thrown her into a pond where she got drowned.
The suspects, who were arrested on August 14, 2020, after a tip off, were identified as Mubarak Lawan, 16, Anas Ibrahim, 15, and Aliyu Mika, 15, all hails from Danmusa town, Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina state.
The Police in a statement on Wednesday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah said the trio had conspired, attacked and raped the victim, Safiya Basiru, of Dutsen-Dadi village, Danmusa LGA of Katsina state, inside their farmland.
After committing the act, it was learnt that the suspects threw her into a nearby pond, where she got drowned and died.
Gambo added that the dead body of the victim was later recovered and taken to Danmusa Hospital where she was confirmed dead.
During the course of investigation, it was gathered, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and they will be charge to court soon.
