A notorious cross-border kidnap kingpin, Abubakar Habibu, that specialises in using motorcycles to cross victims from Nigeria to Niger Republic has been smashed by the police in Katsina State.
The suspect who has been terrorizing the state was arrested by the police at a checkpoint along Kongolom – Daura road in the state.
Habibu from Koza Village, Maiadua Local Government Area is said to be wanted in connection with a case of human trafficking case under investigation by the Command.
Police Public Relations Officer, Katsina State Command, SP Gambo Isah, said “the syndicate specialised in conveying their victims on motorcycles across the Nigerian border to Niger Republic for onward trafficking to Libya and to Europe.”
The suspect was arrested on August 11, 2020 at about 1630hours based on reliable Information.
Habibu, who has confessed to the commission of the offence, is helping the security agents to track other syndicates for possible arrest.
In another vein, two persons, Abdullahi Saidu, 40, from Gobirawa Village and Jafaru Aminu, 50, from Unguwar Nachibi all of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State has been arrested for cattle rustling.
The duos were picked up on August 12, 2020 about 14hours, after a credible intelligence reports indicated their operation and they were arrested while in possession of 12 stolen cows.
The Operatives of State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) Katsina Command revealed that during the course of investigation, all the suspects have confessed to have received the cows from bandits along Faskari LGA of Katsina state axis with Birnin Gwari of Kaduna state with intent to dispose them off.
SP Gambo reiterated that investigations are still ongoing.
