The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), recently in Abuja, inducted Barr. (Mrs.) Ndidiamaka Akpaumontia and other qualified members as Fellows of the Institute during the year 2023 annual conference.
With the theme: “Commercial Mediation and Africa Emerging Markets”, the 2-day conference took place on November 27 & 28, 2023 at Abuja Trade and Convention Center, Abuja, Nigeria.
Speaking after the induction, Barr. Akpaumontia expressing her gratitude said, “The conference had allowed her to connect with like-minded professionals and also the privilege of having some serious networking opportunities too.” Apart from her legal practice experience of over 15 years, Barr. Akpaumontia is dedicated to professional standards of mediation and arbitration.
One of the key activities at the conference was the appointment of Mr. Godwin Omoaka as the new President of ICMC, to oversee the activities of the institute. Mr. Omoaka, a Partner at one of the leading Nigerian Law firms, is expected to bring to this distinguished position over 20 years of experience in mediation, arbitration, and courtroom advocacy across diverse legal domains.
The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) is the professional body of practitioners in Nigeria that regulates and sets standards for the practice of Mediation and Conciliation. The purpose of the Institute is to promote, regulate, and build capacity for the use of mediation and conciliation as Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR mechanisms in the effective administration of Justice, enhancement of law and order, and promotion of access to justice in Nigeria.
