The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze as the pioneer Director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services.

The appointment follows the recent upgrade of the Force Medical Section to a full-fledged Directorate — a move the IGP described as part of ongoing police reforms aimed at strengthening welfare and healthcare delivery for officers and personnel across the country.

AIG Eze, a seasoned clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator, brings over 27 years of professional experience to the new position. Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and a native of Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, she holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.

Throughout her career, she has served in various police medical formations across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, contributing significantly to the improvement of healthcare and welfare initiatives within the Nigeria Police Force.

While congratulating AIG Eze on her appointment, IGP Egbetokun urged her to bring her extensive experience and administrative expertise to bear in repositioning the new Directorate as a benchmark for excellence in police healthcare delivery.

He emphasized that the creation of the Directorate underscores the Force’s renewed commitment to the well-being and productivity of its personnel, describing it as a strategic investment in the human capital of the Nigeria Police Force.
