…Calls on Officers not to be deterred

The Committee set up by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, to access the level of damage and losses incurred by the Nigeria Police in the wake of the hijacked #EndSARS protest has visited Imo and Anambra States respectively urging police officers not to be deterred by the ugly events of last few weeks.
The leader of the delegation, DCP Atayero Patrick, accompanied by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, two Superintendents of Police and one Deputy Superintendent of Police, visited burnt/damaged police stations and facilities in both states at the weekend.
While in Imo state, they urged the policemen not to be deterred by the incidents of the past few weeks, but continue in their quest to ensure the safety and security of Imolites.
During a warm reception accorded the Committee by the Command hierarchy led by the Commissioner of Police, Isaac O. Akinmoyede, he commended them for all their efforts considering the deadline given for the completion of their arduous assignment.
He further thanked the Inspector General of Police for all his support and morale boosting efforts demonstrated by his personal visit and also by sending the committee.
Places visited included the burnt police stations at Orlu, Orji, Mbaitoli, Ngor Okpala, Ehime Mbano, Ahiazu Mbaise, Aboh Mbaise, Njaba, Anara and Ibiasoegbe Divisions to ascertain the level of destructions.
The Committee also visited an injured police officer as well as those who lost their properties during the crisis.
While in Anambra, the Committee visited all Police formations burnt or vandalised by suspected hoodlums during the unfortunate incidents and also commiserated with the families of police officers who paid the supreme price as well as the injured personnel.
Consequently, the Committee equally documented all the losses incurred by police and its personnel during the crisis for onward transmission to the IGP.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, John B.Abang, thanked the Inspector-General of Police for sending a high-powered Committee to commiserate with the Command and assess levels of damaged incurred during the protest.
